Ray Blackwell Award for Excellence in Art Education Nominations
It is once again time for OSEA members to consider for nomination an outstanding visual arts educator to receive the Ray Blackwell Award for Excellence in Art Education.
Established in 1995 by the Ontario Society for Education through Art’s Executive Council, and first presented at the OSEA regional conference in Hamilton, in 1996, this award is presented annually to a deserving elementary, secondary, postsecondary, or teacher educator, or arts administrator. Nominated by OSEA members, and determined by the executive, this award recognizes the career contributions of individuals in their exemplary practices and their advocacy role in supporting education in and through the visual arts. The award is in memory of Ray Blackwell, an eminent and well-respected Ontario educator, who was a classroom teacher, Ministry of Education inspector, and vocal advocate for the visual arts education in publically-funded elementary and secondary schools.
